Pete Ramsay BEM Speaker On Mental Health

Pete is a New Zealand Vietnam Veteran who was an Infantryman, he mentally collected many traumatic situations from combat which he buried in his mind, and wouldn’t confront throughout life.
He completed 11 years service in the New Zealand Defence Force of which
6 were in South East Asia.
Pete has decided to share his mental illness management failure story spanning some 50 years in a public forum to all ages and professions. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services with St John Ambulance Volunteers in Western Australia were the first audiences Pete shared his story with.
In 2022, Pete recorded an audio book, A Soldier’s View of the Vietnam War, a story about his Infantry Company's tour of duty. In eleven hours of audio, he shares memories and moments of himself and his Army mates which are now recorded forever in hardcopy and digital form. Pete is now open to sharing stories about his military and civilian life and his struggles to be a father with a mental illness.
Pete is an exceptional trainer, project manager and presenter with more than 40 years’ experience and a wicked sense of humour that will lighten any moment. He has been married for more than 50 years and lives in Perth with his wife. He has four children and nine grandchildren.
